Is Robotic Arm Assisted Total Hip Arthroplasty More Bone Preserving than Conventional Hip Replacements and Hip Resurfacing?

چکیده
Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a common procedure that increasingly being performed in younger patients. Deep acetabular reaming will result more bone loss and the need for large components to be implanted. It can also lead impingement, loosening, an altered center of rotation, intraoperative periprosthetic fracture. The purpose this study determine whether single ream, robotic arm-assisted (RAA) THA preserve greater volume stock compared conventional replacement resurfacing. Methods: We prospectively recruited 69 patients who had undergone primary using Stryker Trident Acetabular System® combination with RAA System (MAKO)® their mean weight (g) resurfacing, as measured by Brennan et al. Comparison during resurfacing versus uncemented (J Orthop Surg. 2009; 17(1): 42-46). Results: MAKO system was 9.08 g, which 29% less than 12.75 g. None cups required screw fixation. During 35-month follow-up period, there were no complications related cup placement or positioning. Conclusions: use results statistically significant preservation This approach reflects increased precision offered reaming. Surgeons may consider utilizing THA, particularly patients, better could potentially impact future revision procedures.

Inferior outcome after hip resurfacing arthroplasty than after conventional arthroplasty
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The reported outcomes of hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) vary. The frequency of this procedure in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden is low. We therefore determined the outcome of HRA in the NARA database, which is common to all 3 countries, and compared it to the outcome of conventional total hip arthroplasty (THA). METHODS The risk of non-septic revision within 2 years wa...
متن کاملClinical evaluation of hip joint position sense in patients with hip resurfacing arthroplasty versus conventional total hip arthroplasty
The study aimed to compare the hip joint position sense (JPS) of patients undergoing conventional total hip arthroplasty (THA) or hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA). A total of 40 patients who underwent hip arthroplasty (20 THA and 20 HRA) for unilateral coxarthrosis in our department from January 2008 to July 2009 were reviewed. Both groups of patients were matched in age, gender, body-mass in...
متن کاملBiomechanical reconstruction of the hip: a randomised study comparing total hip resurfacing and total hip arthroplasty.
We have compared the biomechanical nature of the reconstruction of the hip in conventional total hip arthroplasty (THA) and surface replacement arthroplasty (SRA) in a randomised study involving 120 patients undergoing unilateral primary hip replacement. The contralateral hip was used as a control. Post-operatively, the femoral offset was significantly increased with THA (mean 5.1 mm; -2.8 to 1...

A study of excision arthroplasty (Girdlestone's pseudarthrosis) for infected total hip replacements is presented. Twenty-two patients were reviewed with a minimum follow-up of one year. Reduction in pain was significant but the functional results were poor. Factors contributing to poor function were old age, poor medical condition and arthritis of the contralateral hip; these were in addition t...

Historical context The concept of resurfacing the hip can be traced back to the early 1900s with the various techniques of interposition arthroplasty.1 Smith-Petersen produced a cast cobalt-molybdenum alloy (vitallium) interposition cup in 1940 as a culmination of many years work with different materials.2 Charnley experimented with a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hip resurfacing as a clear co...
